The north of the Pembrokeshire National Park offers more rugged terrain than that of the south, small harbours dotted along the coast and hidden inlets abound.

Llys y Gwynt (Court of the wind) enjoys a stunning location at the foot of Carningli Mountain with panoramic views of the Nevern Estuary and Newport Bay.

Newport is known as the Pearl of the Pembrokeshire coastline and rightly so.

There are two lovely beaches; Traeth Mawr (big beach) with a long stretch of silver sand for walks, good bathing water, rock pools and caves and Parrog beach which is smaller and very pretty with colourful cottages and bobbing boats.

It's a great spot for crabbing and at low tide the brave can wade across the estuary to the big beach.

Newport also has a fabulous selection of eateries to suit every palate and purse and a good selection of individual local shops including galleries, butcher, fishmonger, chemist, newsagent, wholefood shop and a local producer's street market on a Monday.

The 186 mile long Pembrokeshire coastal path can be joined at Newport.

There are coastal walkers' buses running the entire coastline enabling walkers to enjoy a different stretch each day.

This bungalow is a great retreat and a real family home from home with original works by local artists and craftsmen throughout.

This lovely converted former cart house enjoys a rural setting just outside the village of Dinas between Newport and Fishguard on the north Pembrokeshire coast. 

Situated high up on the hill, there are fabulous views of Newport Bay.

There are several coves and beaches to explore locally including Cwm yr Eglwys, Aberfforest, Pwllgwaelod, Parrog and Newport.  

Newport is a couple of miles away and has a great selection of eateries, pubs and individual shops and galleries.

Fishguard, Cardigan, St Davids and Haverfordwest are all within a half hour drive.

The Strumble Shuttle coastal walker's bus passes the end of the farm lane and there are lovely walks on the coastal path and the Preseli hills. 

There is also a riding stable at the end of the lane if you fancy a trek.

You can literally park the car up and enjoy a week exploring this lovely area of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The offshore islands of Ramsey, Skomer and Skokholm are well worth a trip and you can spot anything from Puffins to porpoise.

Solva is a beautiful harbour village and St Davids is Britain's smallest city.

Both have a good selection of pubs, restaurants and interesting galleries and shops.

Solva, Newgale, Porthgain and Abercastle are nearby too.

Set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park just off the A487 between/Dinas Cross (1/2 mile) and Newport (2 miles) with their individual shops, pubs and eateries, this is a perfect holiday base.

The coastal path is just a 20 minute walk from the house through a wooded valley with a high waterfall to Aberfforest beach.

Part of one of the 3 organic hay and flower meadows to the rear of the garden has been planted with heritage apple trees. You can wander freely through the mown meadow paths of each field and enjoy lovely coastal views of Newport Bay.

Beehives, marsh orchids and shallow ponds mean that there is abundant wildlife in this semi-natural habitat.

The owners, who have lived here for 45 years, are happy to share their extensive knowledge of their land and the natural history of Pembrokeshirewith their guests.
